APACHE CORPORATION DONATES TREES FOR GIVEAWAY TO RESIDENTS

The Houston-based Apache Corporation and the Tree Bank Foundation of Oklahoma are again generously providing 900 Norman households a FREE TREE this Fall. You may request a tree from assorted Oak, Red Maple, Chinese Pistache, Pine, Crape Myrtle, Cypress, Elm and Redbud species. Each tree will be about 1 inch in diameter, come in a 3-gallon container, and will come with a tree planting and watering guide.

Norman Residents and Pre-Registration Only. - Private Residents Only - no commercial or public properties. - Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. October 11th.

Thanks to the generosity of the Apache Foundation and the Tree Bank Foundation, 900 Norman households can get an Oklahoma Proven, FREE Tree.  The program is open to private residences only, and only one tree per household is allowed.

Please choose a species that will "fit" your space at its mature growth and not interfere with overhead power lines.  When you register for a tree, you must rank, in order of preference, at least four trees, otherwise you may not be guaranteed a tree.  Species available at this time ar as follows:  Oak, American Elm, Maple, Chinese Pistache, Loblolly Pine, Sycamore, Crape Myrtle, Redbud, and Bald Cypress.

DISTRIBUTION DATE - Friday, November 2nd

Trees will only be available for pick-up on Friday, November 2nd, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  To pick up your tree, bring your Confirmation (printed or digital) and a photo ID, and /or proof of address (water bill).

If you are not able to pick up your tree on November 2nd, you must make arrangements to have someone do it for you on that day...That person will have to have YOUR confirmation and YOUR proof of address with them.  Trees will not be held later than Friday, November 2nd, 6:00 p.m.

Where Do I Pick Up My Tree?

Reaves Park - 215 East Constitution

On November 2nd, enter Reaves Park off of Constitution Street and follow the "Tree" signs.  Staff will meet your car, check you off the distribution list, and direct you to the distribution area.

The trees are approximately 1" caliper (diameter of trunk) and are set in 3-gallon containers.  You should be able to transport your tree using a medium to large-sized car, small truck, or SUV.  Trailers and large trucks are not necessary.

Volunteers will be available to assist people in getting the trees to their cars.

Please note, the distribution is a "drive-through" operation, so there is no need to get out of your vehicle.

Each citizen will be provided with a TREE PLANTING AND WATERING GUIDE.  Remember, before planting any tree, citizens are asked to call Oklahoma One-Call System to mark the location of any buried utility lines:  1-800-522-OKIE.

If you are a Norman resident, and you were withing the first 900 people to register, you should be receiving a tree.  Trees are available on a first-registered, first-served basis based upon the date and time of registration.

You must be registered to receive your free tree.

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Norman residents only. Proof of residency required.
  • No commercial or rental properties.

  • Species may be viewed on the City of Norman website.
  • Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., October 11.

  • The program is limited to one tree per household.
  • Tree distribution is planned for Friday, November 2, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Reaves Park.
  • You must bring your request/confirmation to pick up your tree. You may either print out your confirmation at home or show it on your phone. You will NOT be mailed a confirmation letter.
