City Council Sets Priorities for 2017-18

At their 2017 retreat on August 4-5, the Norman City Council set their short-term and long-term priorities for the current fiscal year. Several goals are continuations from last year including a Stormwater Utlity, Senior Center, NORMAN FORWARD Projects, and the Comprehensive Plan Update.  (City Council Road Map)

Other goals that carryover from 2016-17 or that are already in progress include:

  • Center City TIF
  • Recycling (multi-family and commercial)
  • Specific Neighborhood Garage Apartment Overlay District
  • University North Park Master Development Plan/RTKL Associates
  • Parking Garage Partnership
  • Sidewalk Connectivity and possible new funding sources
  • Ethics Ordinance
  • Energy Audit Renewables (through the Environmental Control Advisory Board)

New primary, short-term goals include:

  • Revise and Update Zoning Ordinances
  • City Council Paricipation Opportunities/Agenda Protocols
  • Business Development Processes
  • Council Social Media Policy
