Vision for Norman Open Houses this weekend: 2nd Friday Art Walk Friday and Ward 5 Meeting Saturday

Norman residents will have the opportunity to get their questions about the Vision for Norman proposals answered before the April 2 election at two separate open houses this weekend:

Friday, March 8
Main Street Event Center
300 E. Main Street
6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Saturday, March 9
Thunderbird Baptist Church
1416 142nd Ave. SE
10:30 a.m. to noon

The propositions put forward are a $72 million transportation bond, a $60 million stormwater bond and tiered-rate-structure stormwater utility that would raise an estimated $4.2 million to improve maintenance and operations. Each of these propositions undertakes needed infrastructure and maintenance projects that are unable to be supported by the City of Norman’s General Fund. Significant planning, research, and community input went into the development of each proposition to take into account the diverse needs of Norman’s citizens while keeping costs as low as possible for residents.

These events are designed as an opportunity for residents to have an open discussion with City staff about the three propositions in the Vision for Norman proposal, which Norman City Council voted unanimously to place on a Special Election ballot for separate voter consideration on April 2. Currently, there are three more open houses and several Ward meetings scheduled throughout March. A calendar of these events, as well as other background information, interactive maps, and other information, is available on www.VisionForNorman.com
