West Lindsey Street traffic shifts on Friday

The north half of McGee Drive at West Lindsey Street will reopen Friday and the south half of the same intersection will close. In addition, the north half of the intersection of Wiley Road and West Lindsey Street will be temporarily closed to traffic for the installation of decorative pavement at the intersections.

Traffic will be shifted to the newly-paved westbound lanes from 24th Avenue SW to just east of McGee Drive to allow for construction of the south half of West Lindsey Street.
Signs will be in place at each closure to direct motorists during the work, which is expected to take approximately six weeks, depending on weather.
Questions can be directed to Chris Serrano, construction manager, at 366-5265.

HISTORY OF THE PROJECT – LINDSEY STREET, 24th AVENUE SW TO BERRY ROAD
On Monday, July 5, 2016 construction on the West Lindsey Street – 24th Avenue SW to east of Berry Road Reconstruction Project began. The estimated completion date is October 2017. This is a $28.4 Million construction project, which was awarded to Sherwood Construction Company of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) is administering the construction of this project.
On August 28, 2012 the citizens of Norman approved a bond issue to finance the local share of eight projects. One of the projects is Lindsey Street from 24th Ave. SW to Berry Road. The proposed improvements include widening Lindsey Street from 3 lanes to 4 lanes with a raised median; a new bridge over Imhoff Creek, continuous sidewalks on both sides of the street; multi-modal improvements including bicycle lanes; aesthetic enhancements including decorative pavement, landscaping, and roadway lighting; underground utilities; accessibility to disabled individuals; and improved drainage system on Lindsey Street.
