Main Street lane closure between Berry and Flood begins Thursday

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Main Street between Berry Road and Flood Avenue Thursday, if weather permits, as repairs to the existing concrete pavement resume. Deteriorated portions of the existing concrete are removed and replaced with new concrete pavement to improve the ride quality and safety of the street. The project is expected to be complete by mid-August.

The Main Street Repair Project is part of the city’s Street Maintenance Bond Program approved by Norman voters in March 2010. Repairs to Main Street have been under way for two years in phases between 48th Avenue SW and Park Drive in downtown Norman.  This project completes all of the planned pavement improvements on Main Street with the exception of the Main Street Enhancement Project for asphalt improvements between Park Drive and Porter Avenue.  That project is expected to begin in fall 2017 or early spring 2018.
The contractor for the City of Norman for this phase of the improvement project is A-Tech Paving.
Questions about the project can be directed to Masoud Pajoh, capital projects engineer, at 366-5319 or the City of Norman Public Works Street Division at 329-2524.
