Landscape project on West Lindsey begins next phase on Thursday

Beginning Thursday, a contractor working for the city will be installing irrigation lines and plantings on the north side of West Lindsey Street from McGee Drive to 24th Avenue SW. The work will require temporary closure of the outside westbound lane. The inside westbound lane will be fully open. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times during the project.

HISTORY OF THE PROJECT – LINDSEY STREET, 24th AVENUE SW TO BERRY ROAD 

The landscape phase of the project will begin on Monday, February 19with an estimated completion date of April 15, 2018. This is a $245,490 landscape project, which was awarded to Garden Depot of Lawton, Oklahoma. The City of Norman is administering the construction of this project.     

On August 28, 2012 the citizens of Norman approved a bond issue to finance the local share of eight projects. One of the projects is Lindsey Street from 24th Ave. SW to Berry Road. The proposed improvements include widening Lindsey Street from 3 lanes to 4 lanes with a raised median; a new bridge over Imhoff Creek, continuous sidewalks on both sides of the street; multi-modal improvements including bicycle lanes; aesthetic enhancements including decorative pavement, landscaping, and roadway lighting; underground utilities; accessibility to disabled individuals; and improved drainage system on Lindsey Street.
