Peters Avenue and Comanche Streets to be repaved starting this evening

A contractor for the City of Norman will begin milling the existing asphalt driving surface on Peters Avenue between Gray and Eufaula Street this evening at 6 p.m., weather permitting. Also included in the project is the milling of the existing driving surface on Comanche Street between Peters Avenue and Jones Avenue, including the side parking areas adjacent to the courthouse and businesses on the north side of the street.

Paving of the new driving surface will occur the evenings following the milling of the existing asphalt. The roadways will be open to traffic during from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to minimize impact to the courthouse and local businesses. The roads will be closed each evening at 6 p.m. for the repaving project which is expected to be completed by Friday morning. 
New pavement markings will be placed during the week of May 29.
Barricades will be placed to aid motorist through the work zones.
The project will replace deteriorating and rough asphalt and improve the road’s ride quality.
