City of Norman to Host Public Meeting Monday: Public Input Sought for Stormwater Utility Proposed Fee Structures

The City of Norman will host a public meeting Monday at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at city hall, 201 W. Gray. Additional comments are sought prior to the May 24 second reading and consideration of an ordinance that could place the new stormwater utility on the ballot for consideration by voters in August.

The first reading of the ordinance was at the May 10 city council meeting. The first reading is to provide notice of the ordinance for the public; the second reading allows for public comments on the ordinance.

City of Norman public works and engineering staff will present information about the flooding and water quality concerns to be addressed by the proposed stormwater utility. They will also provide details about the fees structure option that has been labeled Option C. The Option C fee structure was proposed based on information received through two recent public meetings and input from more than 500 residents on an online questionnaire.

Ward 3 Councilmember Robert Castleberry has originated an alternate fee structure that he will present as well.
