Rachel Butler
Councilmember Butler has lived in east Norman for 20 years and has
been a librarian at Oklahoma City Community College since 1989. Over many
years she has served the Oklahoma Library Association in a variety of
leadership roles, including chair of the annual conference two years ago
and currently chairs an ad hoc committee to develop a library leadership
institute for Oklahoma. She also has a masters degree in geography and a
long time interest in planning issues.
Ward 5
covers mostly rural east Norman, from approximately 36th Avenue east to
the far side of Lake Thunderbird.
Councilmember Butler wants to listen to the Ward 5 constituents and carry
their issues forward. She will take a thoughtful approach to balancing
growth and the environment and hopes to involve many people in the review
process, in discussing what makes a great city, and what kind of future we
want for Norman.
Councilmember Butler serves as Chair of the Council Planning Committee and
is a member of the Public Transportation Committee. She also
serves as council's representative to the ACOG (Association of Central
Oklahoma Governments). |
